Northwestern Alberta missing the rain

The rain that’s been soaking us this summer seems to be skipping other parts of the province.

Farmers in northwestern Alberta are dealing with a severe drought.

This week the county of Grande Prairie followed two other counties’ lead, declaring itself an agricultural disaster zone for the third straight year.

Alberta agriculture tells The Calgary Herald the region has received well below normal levels of precipitation.

So far, the province has no plans to financially bail out the affected farmers.
