Commercial Real Estate Booming

Home sales may be slumping in Canada, but the same can’t be said for commercial real estate.

The market has bounced back by 60 per cent in the first half of 2010.

According to CB Richard Ellis, there were $7.8 billion worth of deals in the first half of this year, compared to less than $5 billion in the same period a year ago.

Toronto led the way with transactions worth nearly $3 billion.

Here in Calgary, 188 properties changed hands, worth $680 million.  That’s lower than what the commercial real estate market did during the same period in Edmonton.
