The sky isn’t as blue as it should be.
Smoke from forest fires in the B.C. interior is creating a haze over Calgary and other parts of the province.
Ogho Ikhalo of Alberta Environment tells 660News it’s impacting our air quality,
“Calgary central is currently ready in fair condition according to our air quality index. Calgary northwest is in good condition. The wind is picking up and blowing smoke in from B.C.’s interior.”
At 11 a.m. in central Calgary, the air quality ready was 28 parts per million. Poor air quality is over 50 parts per million.
Ikhalo says they are in close contact with Alberta Health Services and if the situation worsens, an air quality alert may be issued.
You can now go online to find out how much forest fire smoke is drifting over the Calgary area.
Alberta and B.C. have teamed up earlier this month to launch a smoke forecasting website.
