A TV crew from the BBC is in Calgary Friday.
They’re shooting a piece on the impact of light pollution on southwest England and are featuring this city’s EnviroSmart streetlights.
Calgary was the first city in North America to begin retrofitting residential streetlights with new lower wattage, flat lens fixtures that reduce operating costs and protect the environment.
Since it was launched in 2002 the program has saved $11-million and 107,000 megawatt hours of electricity.
