Tamil refugee claims under question

The federal government says Canadians are in danger of being duped by bogus Tamil refugees.

This, after a ship arrived in Victoria carrying nearly 500 migrants from Sri Lanka.

The Calgary Sun reports a secret government survey found that 71 per cent of Tamil refugees living in Canada admitted to travelling back to Sri Lanka for vacations, business or to sponsor a family member.

That brings into question just how legitimate their refugee claims are.

Government house leader John Baird says once refugee status is granted it’s almost impossible to revoke, even if the government knows the refugee lied to authorities.
