The B.C. government is offering a stay of execution for a group of bears found guarding a pot grow-op.
Initially, officials thought the 15 bruins would have to be put down if they couldn’t adapt to living in the wild after a long-term diet of human-provided food.
But now, according to The Calgary Sun, the province’s environment minister says they’ll set up temporary feeding stations to ween the bears off their human dependancy.
A Calgary woman who gathered 2,400 signatures on a Facebook group to save the bears says she’s thrilled the B.C. government is willing to try this option.
