Taber Corn Arrives

Southern Alberta’s cool summer has been cruel to local growers, with sales finally starting Wednesday, that normally would have begun at least three weeks ago.

Jim at the Kingsland Farmer’s Market tells 660News he sold one man three full sacks less than two hours after the season’s first shipment arrived.

“People are desperate,” he says. “They want the corn and you can tell by the look on their face when they see it on our shelf here.”

He says while the cool weather has set back cash flow for growers, people buying the corn are making up for lost time.
