Parents, don’t lose your cool.
Students go back to class Thursday at most Calgary public and Catholic schools, but there are ways to avoid the first day madness.
Ellen Percival of Calgary’s Child magazine says to get the back packs and school supplies ready early, “Designate a spot where the backpacks live. It always comes in the same place at the end of the day where you can unpack all the treasures and look for those permission slips and important pieces of paper that get mashed at the bottom.”
She also recommends laying out your child’s clothes the night before. “Actually, if you’re really thinking ahead, you can set out clothes for a whole week,” she says.
Another tip: Set the alarm half an hour early to give the kids a bit more time to get back into their routine.
