Parents now face paying school user fees

The cost of putting a child into school doesn’t stop after he or she has returned to class, there are also user fees.

Janet Corsten with the Calgary Catholic School Board tells 660News, most of the fees are capped and supplement the money they get from the provincial government.

Parents who cannot afford to pay those fees can apply for assistance.

The Calgary Board of Education also has a number of user fees which can be viewed on the C.B.E. website.

Both boards do offer financial assistance to parents who cannot afford to pay those fees, with those requests dealt with on a case by case basis.
