Province warns homeowners about Calgary contractor

The province is warning Calgarians about a general contractor with a history of complaints who could still be working around the city.

Sharon Lopatka with Service Alberta tells 660News Samuel Bogale faces 66 charges, including criminal fraud and violations of Alberta’s consumer protection legislation.

She says he has been going door-to-door targeting seniors, offering upgrades and renovations.

Lopatka says some of the complaints against Bogale include grossly overcharging for work and using a contract that does not comply with provincial regulations.

The general contractor was arrested September 1 by Calgary Police on a warrant from Service Alberta and has been released on bail.

Bogale has operated under several names including Universal Interiors, Granite Express and Global Interiors.
