Mayor Bronconnier prepares to leave

Dave Bronconnier says his last few weeks as Mayor of Calgary will be spent paving the way for the person we elect to replace him, and that means lots of paperwork.

The Mayor says he’s been busy in his office dealing with a list of files that is down to about a thousand, with a little more than a month to go before a new mayor takes over.

He tells 660News issues like franchise fees, budgets, protective services and road projects need to be wrapped up so his replacement can get right to work.

Bronconnier says he’s leaving the campaign up to the candidates, focusing instead on a transition plan for the new mayor and a new council.

He says candidates are bringing up a lot of issues on the campaign trail, but adds there’s a big difference between campaigning and governing.
