It’s that time of year again, when the TV lights up with action.
We’re not just talking about the premieres of your favourite shows but also, for political buffs, the sparks are flying at the House of Commons again.
660News talked to two of canada’s biggest TV personalities, Rick Mercer and George Stroumboulopoulos to get their take on the state of politics in our country.
Neither star is very optimistic about the government.
Despite the promises of unity, George Stroumboulopoulos believes the Conservatives are focused on division.
“And I think this prime minister is not a fan of dialogue, he doesn’t connect with Canadians,” says Stroumboulopoulos.
Rick Mercer thinks John Baird as the new House Leader will just be spewing insult after insult.
“You just don’t put that guy in that position because you can’t stop him,” says Mercer.
Regarding the Quebec arena funding, Mercer believes our prime minister could be trying to get a job with the NHL.
“That’s his post-political career, he’s going to be the next Gary Bettman! He’d probably like that,” jokes Mercer.
Regardless, the two stars think the fall session will be a lot of fun.
