Edmonton International Airport is claiming victory over YYC in a battle for fliers.
Our northern counterpart is now claiming 19,000 fewer Edmontonians are hopping in their car to drive here to catch flights since the “Stop the Calgary Habit” campaign was launched in March.
Edmonton International claims all those passengers choosing to fly right from the Provincial capital rather than take off from here, have allowed them to add a total of 21 per cent more seats for their upcoming winter travel season.
As YYC’s Jody Moseley tells 660News, it’s not hurting their numbers as, ” YYC actually is up 3.3 per cent this year so we’re looking at increases this year to date, over three per cent.”
She adds their focus is on making YYC the best airport possible with their new expansion and runway.
