Alberta premier close to finalizing meeting with James Cameron

The premier’s office is hammering out the details for a meeting next week between Ed Stelmach and director James Cameron.

It looks like it take place on Wednesday morning during the Hollywood heavyweight’s visit to northern Alberta to see the oilsands first hand.  Cameron has previously called the oilsands a “black eye” on Canada’s environmental record.

Jerry Bellikka, a spokesman for the premier, says Stelmach will be in Ottawa for an energy conference on Monday and Tuesday.

He tells 660News the premier was supposed to fly back Wednesday morning on a commercial flight, but they are looking at using a government plane to get Stelmach back for the meeting.

Bellikka says the premier extended the invitation to Cameron in the first place so that is part of the reason why they are working so hard to make this meeting a reality.
