Rec centre expansion starts

A southeast rec centre has broken ground on a huge new expansion.

The South Fish Creek Recreation Association is starting the $21-million project after three years of fundraising.

When the expansion is over, the centre will have two new ice rinks, more storage space, change rooms and a large multi-purpose room.

The community association says that will help with a serious shortage of ice time for the area’s minor hockey teams.

The expansion is set to finish by fall of next year.
