An almost 30 minute power outage in the downtown core created chaos for many Calgarians Friday evening.
Enmax tells 660News it impacted a significant area: 4th to 7th Avenue between 5th and 2nd Street SW. As well as 7th to 10th Avenue —- between 14th and 2nd Street SW.
The power went out at around 9:45 p.m. and was restored around 20 minutes later. The outage was caused by a fire at Enmax’s number one substation at the corner 9th Avenue and 7th Street SW.
The incident was frustrating for drivers, as the sudden loss of power caused a handful of chain reaction collisions.
