The Calgary Stampeders go pink

When the Calgary Stampeders hit the field at McMahon Stadium Saturday night they will not only be fighting the B.C. Lions, they will also doing their part to battle cancer.

Volunteers will be selling pink scarves and toques to raise money and awareness for the Canadian Cancer Society as part of the annual Pink Power game.

Safety Wes Lysack is the team spokesman for the program. Three years ago, his grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she’ll be in the stands for Saturday’s game.

Lysack tells The Calgary Herald his grandmother is basically fully recovered now. However, he says that as he learns more about cancer and sees how many people it affects, he wants to do more and more to help.
