This article is more than 5 years old.
It’s not exactly a tune or slogan we’re singing — or muttering — in the streets.
But about a third of Albertans say they’re aware of a new branding slogan launched by the province, last year.
“Alberta: Freedom to create; Spirit to achieve” was launched to sell the idea the province is diverse, a good place to invest and environmentally aware when it comes to energy production.
According to the Calgary Herald, 26 percent of us are vaguely aware of the campaign. 43 percent of us haven’t got a clue.
Despite the numbers, Len Funke, in charge of the provincial government’s Public Affairs bureau is pleased that 57 percent of us have some recognition of the campaign. He notes it takes years to build up brand recognition.
It also takes $3.7 million in this case.
According to Debi Andrus, the marketing professor at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business, 57 percent isn’t a very impressive recognition rate.
