The Big Brothers and Sisters of Calgary are putting out a public plea because of disappointing lotto sales.
Tickets for the “4 Kids Lottery” are only 57 per cent sold, with one week remaining.
Emma MacIsaac with the Children’s Cottage Society says that there are a variety of reasons behind low ticket sales.
“Primarily the economy, people aren’t ready to use their disposal income on purchasing lottery tickets, also the number of competition in the market with other charitable lotteries and it’s really hard to compete with/”
She says the difference between their fundraiser and others is “It’s all about the cause, we help kids in vulnerable circumstances throughout the province, you also give yourself a chance to win and you’re also helping kids while you do it.”
