More traffic headaches are on the horizon for Calgary drivers.
Starting Monday, work on the ring road will affect traffic on Glenmore Trail, between 68th and 84th Street Southeast. This is the Stoney Trail portion of the project.
Traffic will be down to single lanes in both directions.
Nor will it be a short-term problem. The Calgary Herald quotes an Alberta Transportation spokesperson as saying a detour in the area will last at least a year.
Stoney Trail is being extended beyond 17th Avenue Southeast along the city’s eastern limit. Then it will go west, along 22-X. But the new portion won’t be ready for use until 2013.
