Voting in the 2010 Civic Election is well underway.
A steady stream of Calgarians is being reported at most of the city’s polling stations.
A lack of an incumbent in the mayor’s chair and in four aldermanic wards is expected to be part of why we could see higher voter turnout this year.
Back in 2007, only 33 percent of eligible voters exercised their right to vote.
If advance voting is any indication, this time around it will be a much bigger turnout.
Just under 24,000 Calgarians cast their ballots in early voting, a 154 percent increase from the last election.
Thanks to various media sources, campaign literature and the internet, most voters 660News is talking to, feel they have more than enough information before marking their x.
The vast majority are telling us they had no problem finding out what they needed to know about the candidates running for mayor, alderman and the two school boards.
Polls are expected to be extra busy between 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. with Calgarians heading to vote after work or school before the stations close at 8:00 p.m.
