With a mild weekend on the way lights and decorations may be on the way out for Halloween, but the experts want to make sure that what goes up meets safety standards.
If the decorations are not CSA approved they may be a safety hazard or may simply not work properly.
The organization’s Mark Ouji tells 660News if you don’t see a CSA mark, or that of a similar organization, the item may be a counterfeit.
“Counterfeits are getting harder to spot. It doesn’t just mean that they affect such things as handbags and watches, they can affect billions of products,” says Ouji.
Along with failing to have the CSA mark, he says counterfeit items typically don’t list company information either.
