Ward 9 aldermanic recount denied

A request for a recount of votes in the Ward 9 aldermanic contest has been shot down.
The Sun is reporting Mike Pal, who lost to Gian-Carlo Carra in the race, had requested a recount after he lost by a narrow margin.
Pal says his two major concerns were irregularities of votes reported in other wards and that the Chief Returning Officer had said election staff were tired and misread results.
However, Barb Clifford, chief returning officer, says she turned Pal down Wednesday because the mistakes she referred to had to do with errors on tally sheets and not vote counts.
Carra received 7,850 votes while Pal garnered 7,355. A difference of 495.
