Plane crashes in northern Alberta

One person has been killed in a plane crash near the community of Conklin, between Edmonton and Fort McMurray.

The plane had been carrying 10 people including 8 passengers and 2 crewmen.

The twin engine King Air 100 belongs to Kenn Borek Air.

The flight went down around 11:20 Monday morning about 200 yards from the Kirby lake airstrip.  It was en route from Edmonton’s City Centre Airport. The passengers were 7 BP Canada employees and one contracts. BP says they were on their way to its Kirby natural gas operation.

Stars air ambulance out of Edmonton responded, but was later called off, because those emergency crews on the ground had the situation under control.

The name of the person killed has not been released.  The nine others are in serious, non-life threatening condition.

Kenn Borek air is based out of Calgary.
