Old man winter’s appearance in parts of Alberta on Monday has some farmers scrambling to get their crops off before the white stuff is here to stay.
The overnight snowfall is just the latest setback for beleaguered Alberta farmers who suffered thru drought this year in northern parts of the province and flooding in the south resulting in overall poor quality crops.
Humphrey Banik, president of the Wildrose Agricultural Producers tells 660News, while this may spell the end of harvest for some farmers, they are still hopeful most of the crops are salvageable.
He says the snowfall amount was generally low and despite all the weather issues in our province this year, most farmers found the yields fairly average.
