A bill from a Wildrose Alliance member that would cap provincial spending has been defeated.
Under Bill 204, put forth by MLA Rob Anderson, future increases in government spending would have been tied to the rate of inflation plus population growth.
In total, 33 Tory and Liberal MLA’s voted against it.
Scott Hennig with the Canadian Tax Payer’s Federation tells 660News he thinks Bill 204 is sorely needed in our province, and although it isn’t surprising MLA’s voted against it, he does find it disappointing,
Hennig says linking spending with inflation and population growth has worked well in several U.S. states.
