Zoo says it’s making progress on changes

The Calgary Zoo says it’s reached the halfway point on putting in improvements it promised after a review in June.

The report revealed several instances of human error that contributed to animal deaths at the embattled facility.

The changes include making training better and getting rid of 11-hour shifts for animal keepers in favour of nine-and-a-half hour stints on the job.

The Zoo tells The Calgary Sun they’re also working on getting a new director of animal care in place after the previous one stepped down earlier this year.
