Calgary police are piecing together a strange incident.
A man in his 20’s was allegedly abducted and beaten after being involved in an accident Tuesday night in the 1700 block of 35 Avenue S.W.
District 2 Sgt. Harv Davies tells 660News, the man was involved in a collision and was boxed in by two vehicles. He was then taken from the vehicle and hauled away.
“He turned up later in the early morning hours somewhere near Springbank and he had been assaulted. At this point we’re still making arrangements to interview him and get his story,” says Davies.
He adds, just prior to the crash, the victim and another man had met and were in a car when they were boxed in. The victim tried to drive away and that’s when his vehicle was hit. It’s not clear if the two were involved in a drug deal.
RCMP, who found the man, say they also found zip ties and a large volume of blood at the scene where the man was found, just west of the city.
Police say the man’s injuries are not life-threatening and they have yet to make any arrests.
Davies says the victim is known to police and this assault was a targeted attack.
