They say time stops for no one, but down at Calgary’s old city hall right now time has indeed stopped.
The clock in the city hall tower is undergoing repairs.
Sharon Purvis, director of corporate properties and buildings for the city, tells 660News it will be down for two to four weeks while they replace a worn out fan on the fly shaft, which is very similar to the second hand on a watch.
The city purchased the historic clock in 1910 and it has been giving Calgarians the time since old city hall was finished being built in 1911.
Old city hall and its clock were declared a provincial historic resource in 1978.
