Flames forward Brett Sutter arrested

An alleged fight off the ice has landed a Calgary Flames player in some hot water.

Forward Brett Sutter, the son of GM Darryl Sutter and nephew of Head Coach Brent Sutter, has been charged with simple assault, which is a misdemeanour charge.

The 23-year-old centre was arrested in Arizona after an alleged bar fight early Thursday morning outside of a bar called American Junkie.

It’s alleged he punched another patron.  Sutter posted bond quickly and was released.

The Calgary Flames issued a statement late Thursday night saying they are aware of Sutter’s arrest, but will not comment because it is an ongoing investigation.

Sutter is not expected to play in Friday night’s game in Arizona, but he did lace up with the team for Thursday’s practice wearing a yellow jersey, indicating a scratch.
