Lights, camera, probation!

A 37 year old man has been given three years probation after pleading guilty to being a voyeur while working at the River Cafe on Prince’s Island.

Steven Craig Smith admitted to recording co-workers with his cellphone while they were using the washroom facilities. The nine victims included both men and women, but the Calgary Herald reports Smith told police he was only interested in woman for his own, sexual gratification.

The Crown, which had been asking for a conditional jail sentence, six months house arrest and probation, reports a co-worker noticed the cellphone, which was hidden on the top of a light fixture.  He reported the incident to the cafe’s owner.

In giving Smith probation, the judge noted the offender had made strides in getting help.
