Sustainable Resource Development Minister Mel Knight will be taking our province’s unique perspective on energy issues to a Pacific Northwest Economic Region forum this week in Washington State.
Knight, who assumed the presidency of the P.N.W.E.R last summer will outline a number of topics including Alberta’s role in energy, the environment, agriculture and high tech.
He tells 660News, he has been representing Alberta on the committee for the last nine years and this time will chair the meetings and work as a coordinator of all the events.
Delegates will address a variety of other topics including high speed rail transportation, border protection and the development of a regional innovation strategy.
The forum, held in Stevenson, Washington from Wednesday until Friday will include U.S. officials along with provincial MLA’s Alana Delong and George Groeneveld.
The P.N.W.E.R. is a public-private partnership with a mandate of encouraging global economic competitiveness and preserving the environment in the Pacific Northwest.
