Distracted driving law passes third reading

The province’s much anticipated distracted driving law has passed into the legislature.

The leglislation now has to be officially sworn into law.

It will likely be quite a while however, until police start handing out fines for the offences Bill 16 covers.

There is a major public awareness campaign on the way, letting Albertans know what they will be allowed to do and not do behind the wheel.

Under the law, using a hand-held cell phone will be banned and if your caught you could be fined as much as 200 dollars.
