The waiting list for subsidized housing in the city is growing at a rapid pace.
There are just under 4,000 names on the list, almost double the amount seen during the most recent economic boom in Calgary.
Approximately 1,500 of those are single people and 1,300 are single parents with kids.
James Robertson with the city tells 660News it is difficult to estimate how long a person will have to wait on the list before housing becomes available.
The availability of unites for single parents with kids is different than the availability for single people, or families with multiple dependants.
Robertson adds, they also prioritize based on needs, and put people with more dire financial needs ahead of others.
