The “cookie comment” made by Stephen Duckett, president and CEO of Alberta Health Services, is garnering international attention but the health boss won’t be going anywhere.
Health Minister Gene Zwozdesky says he has no plans to terminate Duckett’s contract, despite some calls from political watchers for him to do so.
On Friday, Duckett, the man in charge of Alberta’s $15-billion health care system, wouldn’t speak to reporters asking questions about the province’s emergency room crisis.
Meantime, Premier Ed Stelmach says he’s sick of recent theatrics surrounding the state of Alberta’s emergency rooms and wants the focus on system improvement, not appointing blame.
The video of Duckett has garnered nearly 30,000 hits on YouTube.
