Calgarians are being honoured for YMCA Peace Day.
It’s a day set aside to recognize volunteers, whether they’re building schools and helping orphans in other countries or pitching in here at home at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
Dan Taubensee with the event says a little bit can make a big difference.
“Peace starts with every one of us and we’re recognizing some amazing people today. We’re creating awareness about issues but mostly what we’re wanting to do is just inspire everyone, that we can make a difference for peace every day,” says Taubensee.
8 YMCA Peace Medals were awarded at a ceremony at Eau Claire Market, which recognized nearly two-dozen nominees.
The medals went to:
Jaclyn Mann
The Good Life Community Bicycle Shop
YMCA Extreme Leaders Leadership Group
Ashid Bahl
Spark of Hope
F.E. Osborne Student Leadership Group
Jessica Lafferty
Munira Nagji
