It appears handing out fines isn’t enough to prevent able-bodied Calgarians from parking in disabled spots.
The Calgary Parking Authority reports they’re on pace to hand out more than 5,300 tickets by year’s end; a 57 per cent jump over 2008.
That’s despite this year’s $100 hike to the maximum fine to $250.
A spokesman for the Canadian Paraplegic Association tells The Calgary Herald offenders should have to sit through an education session on how their actions affect the handicapped.
