Liepert blasts energy group over invitation

Alberta’s energy minister says he stands behind a letter questioning the political judgement of an energy group’s president.

Ron Liepert says he and other Tory MLA’s were invited to the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors’ annual general meeting, featuring Wildrose Alliance Leader Danielle Smith as the guest speaker.

Liepert wrote a letter to president Don Herring questioning if the invitation was a joke and if members were supportive of such action.

Liepert tells the Calgary Herald he never heard back from Herring, noting he has a good working relationship with him.
