Liberal leader defends Raj Sherman

The leader of the Alberta Liberals claims the Tories are smearing Dr. Raj Sherman in a desperate attempt to stay in power.
Dr. David Swann made the comments while unveiling his party’s panel to help the province’s emergency room crisis.
Sherman was suspended from the Tory caucus for publicly attacking the government’s record on health care.
Since then, Dr. Sherman alleges he’s become the target of a smear campaign after Edmonton MLA Fred Horne questioned his mental health.
Dr. Swann says he spent most of the week with Sherman, and sees no merit to the accusation.
Swann says Sherman is emotional and exhausted after being punished for speaking out in the public good.
Swann has invited Sherman to sit as a Liberal.
The emergency room debate resumes on Monday.
