In a rare interview, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange says the release of Pentagon and State Department documents are just the beginning. The next target will be big business in the way of a major american bank.
Andy Greenberg from Forbes is one of the few people to meet face to face with Assange over the past few years. Greenberg says the next wave of documents will focus on a big U.S. bank.
“They will show a kind of eco-system of corruption,” Greenberg tells CTV News Channel. “A whole system of the motivations of the executives, and some kind of unethical behaviour that they engaged in.”
In the interview, Greenberg says Assange hopes the release will give a true and representative insight into how banks behave at the executive level.
“I don’t want to speculate,” says Greenberg, “because I don’t know what’s exactly in these documents yet. But Assange told me he presumes that there will be some kind of reform that will follow this expose.”
Assange plans to unveils tens of thousands of the internal documents early next year.
And Greenberg says Assange is well aware of the power the releases will have. In fact, he believes Assange sometimes over estimates the power of the releases.
