International Volunteer Day

Sunday marks International Volunteer Day as designated by the United Nations.
It celebrates and recognizes the important and immeasurable contributions of volunteers around the globe.
Everyone is encouraged to take a moment to think about all the volunteers who impact our daily lives, from those who deliver meals to needy seniors, to coaching young athletes, and those who organize fundraising events for non-profit organizations.
Albertans have a good reason to celebrate since the most recent Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating estimates that 52 per cent of Albertan’s volunteer their time, which is higher than the national average of 48 per cent.
