Scene of shooting gets facelift

As mourners gathered in eastern Canada at the funeral for a man gunned down at a northeast Calgary bar, its new owner is hoping it won’t always be associated with violence.

Glenn Lackey tells the Calgary Sun, he was in the process of buying the Our Place Pub and Grill on 26th Avenue N.E. when the shooting happened last weekend.

Since then, he’s begun work to give the pub a facelift and a new name.

Meantime, police are still working to figure out why three men burst in to the bar in the wee hours of Saturday, November 27th, and opened fire on 36-year-old bartender Dexter Bain, who died shortly after.
