The man who set a snare that killed a dog in Kananaskis could be facing a massive fine and jail time.
Ed and Lorna Thomas were walking their five-year-old Alaskan malamute near Elbow Falls last week when the dog was caught in the snare and killed.
The couple managed to track down the man responsible, wrote down his licence plate number and gave it to authorities.
A provincial spokesperson tells The Calgary Sun, laying a snare in that area is illegal and anyone who does faces a maximum fine of $100,000 and up to two years in prison.
