Enrollment increases will strain schools

A boom in new students is expected to put further strain on Alberta schools.

The Calgary Board of Education says it’s expecting its enrollment to go up by more than 16,000 students in the next ten years.

That’s a 16 per cent increase in the last decade and the board says it’s going to need more schools to keep up.

Ten new schools opened this year and two high schools are scheduled to swing open their doors in the next three years.
