Canadian Medical Association looking for input

The Canadian Medical Association wants Canadians’ opinions on the country’s healthcare system.

With the current federal-provincial health accord expiring in 2014, a website has been created to gather opinions on health issues.

The President of the CMA Dr. Jeff Turnbull posted a video on the website saying they are focused on three key questions.

The first deals with the Canada Health Act, which covers only doctor services and in hospital care, and asks if people think it should be broadened to include things like pharmacare and long-term care.

The second asks what Canadians would consider good value for health care.

Lastly, it asks what Canadians think their responsibilities are, now and in the future, in regards to their health.

The association will take public input to the government to move the policy agenda on health care forward based on what Canadians want it to look like.
