There will be three new ice rinks in Calgary by the end of Wednesday.

The president of Hockey Calgary tells The Calgary Herald the NHL-sized arenas at Calgary Olympic Park will definitely bring some relief to the city’s ice shortage for minor hockey games.

Scarce ice time has already pushed games late into the night on weekdays and made play time shorter for young, promising players.

An additional international ice rink will open at COP next fall.
