RBC forecasts big economic growth in Alberta

Canada’s biggest bank has published it’s 2011 forecast for the province, and it’s a rosy one.

Royal Bank of Canada predicts among the provinces, Alberta will only be second to Saskatchewan when it comes to economic growth next year.

Most of the credit will have to go to the energy sector.

Economic growth in Alberta this past year came in at 3.4 per cent.

RBC believes our economy will grow by 4.3 per cent in 2011.

Chief Economist Craig Wright tells 660News increased global demand for energy bodes well for us, encouraging investment in the province and creating jobs.

Wright says Alberta’s economy will create 37,000 jobs next year, the biggest number since 2007.

Consumer spending is also expected to soar.
