Three new ice rinks open at COP

Hockey players and figure skaters now have three new rinks to practice on.

Dozens of Calgarians flocked to Canada Olympic Park to check out the new NHL sized pads, which opened Wednesday.

Perry Cavanaugh, the president of Hockey Calgary tells CTV, although they’re glad to see the new rinks, there still aren’t enough for all Calgarians to use.

Cavanaugh says the city needs around 50 more arenas, but he’d be happy to see 10.

COP will soon also include a fourth rink that is Olympic-sized and a high performance training centre. Both are set to open in 2012.
