Convicted sex offender facing new charges

A convicted sex offender with a lengthy list of crimes against children is facing a new charge.
62 year-old Eric Brian Wanamaker is facing one count of possession of child pornography, and made his first court appearance this morning. He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on December 23.
Police say a tip from the public, spurred officers to search a home in the 4300 block of Bowness Road NW on Thursday, where they discovered illegal material.
The former high risk offender had been monitored by police following his release from prison several years ago, but the law had prevented officers from keeping formal tabs on him for any longer than a year.
Wanamaker served 11 years in prison after he was convicted in 1992 of sexual offences against a young girl.
