Culprit in home invasion posed as gas worker

ATCO Gas is reminding people that legitimate employees of the utility carry photo ID and people should check it.

The advice comes after the second case this year of a home invasion robbery by someone posing as an ATCO employee.

Three armed men targeted a home in Pump Hill Saturday afternoon.

They took a five-year-old boy and a housekeeper to the basement where the woman was tied up.

Then the thieves forced the other woman, the homeowner, to take them around the house as they grabbed cash and jewelry.

A similar incident was reported in August.

An ATCO spokesman tells The Calgary Sun customers should check ID cards if someone comes to the door claiming to be with the utility, and don’t let them in if you feel uncomfortable.
